"Jefferson County is located in eastern Idaho. It ranks 14th among Idaho counties in population and 28th in area. The federal government owns nearly 47 percent of the county. Agriculture and food processing are the largest basic industries and dominate the economy, but government and trade sectors provide the largest employment. Annual average total civilian employment increased 10.8 percent from 1996 to 2006. Major employers include Blaine Larsen Farms Inc., Broulim’s Foodtown, Idaho Fresh Pak Inc., Idaho Pacific Corporation, Rigby Produce Inc., Jefferson County government, Jefferson, Ririe and West Jefferson schooldistricts and the Idaho Transportation Department."

In the Spotlight
The Jefferson County Lake Campground Water and Power project began in December and will continue through June. The lake will be closed until the project is complete. Beginning in January, shelter reservations will be taken for July through September. June shelter reservations will only be taken on a first come first serve basis once the project is complete. Camping reservations will be accepted in May.
Jefferson County will be hosting a community preparedness fair on May 12th from 10 am to 4 pm at the Rigby Senior High School. Please click here for more information.
Many county patrons/residents find it convenient to push, snow from private property and/or driveways onto county road right-of-ways. This action presents potential hazards to the persons driving the roads as well as the county employees; it can also cause monetary damage to private vehicles and county equipment.
